upchuckrThese past few months I really started to enjoy Digg, Great article and great friends. Digg has also been a great way to promote my websites and business as well. Digg recently made a change last week which basically gave the middle finger to top users and veterans of the website.

Last week Digg changed their Algo so the more mutual friends you have, the more Digg’s it will take to get your story popular. OK at first I was like cool thats not a huge deal until it takes people 23 1/2 hours and 200+ Digg’s to get a story popular now. Before Digg made the change last week it would take maybe 10 hours and 90 Digg’s at the most to get popular. The worst part about this is people who do not regularly participate on Digg and have zero friends can get by with less then 60 Digg’s still.

This is not right what Digg has done to the community who has supplied them with quality stories and made their site worth $300 Million!. So as the title says you got to ask yourself, why support someone who does not give two craps about you.
A few months back I used to let my friend use Digg from my office, he ended up getting banned and my IP has been blocked for over a month already. I sent countless e-mails to Digg support and never received an Answer back thus referring to this post. This is not how you run a business!. With my business I make sure that every e-mail is answered and every phone call is called back. That is what you call respect for your customers and respect for your business.

So what have I done about this? Simple I started my own Digg type site. The site is a sub-domain on my bookmarking site www.upchuckr.com . The direct address to the new site is upchuckit.upchuckr.com . I am keeping Upchuckit as a Niche site rather just being general which will keep it apart from Digg. The Niche that I chose is Web-mastering. I will accept stories that have to do with SEO, Site administration, Making money and so on. Upchuckit works the same way as Digg where users vote on a story to get to the front . I launched the bookmarking site last month and the sub-domain this week so I am hoping that they will both take off.

Feel free to leave me and questions or comments about the sites.

OMG it hasn’t updated in 10 years.

This is funny,

I was trolling DMOZ to see if cheaptravelforums.com was ever added to DMOZ. Of course it was not yet listed but I found something else to amuse me.  I found a site called Travel.org.  I thought for sure with a name like that it would be a kick ass site.  Well I was wrong, dead wrong!.

1996 Like a mother!.

1996.jpg

and if you think that’s bad.  If you scroll down a little more there is link which says

Click here for the Internet Archive “Wayback Machine” to see what TRAVEL.ORG looked like back in 1996

Nothing is different!.  Its the same site

Ladies and Gentlemen Travel.org is truely an internet Dinosaur.  Its a shame too because that name is priceless.  They can probably hire a real web designer with the amount of money they can get from that domain name.

The First Pagerank - Backlink update of 2008

I was trolling around on the DP forums today and saw a couple of post mentioning a PR update. I then did a bit of Digging on my sites using http://www.astawerks.net/pagerank and saw that as of right now nothing really updated except http://www.cheaptravelforums.com which went from a PR N/A to a PR 3. I am really hoping that the rest of My sites move up a Bit. Feel free to post your New page ranks here in this post.

Proof that Social bookmarking really does work.

As many of you already know, I created a new Social book marking site almost two weeks ago

http://www.upchuckr.com. In the past Social book marking was not really my thing, maybe only Digg
because it was a fun way to burn time and catch up on news at the same time.

I have been doing my research and trying everything that I can do build more back-links and traffic
to my sites. So I know I am a little late but these past few weeks I have been going over
a good deal of the products on my store Astawerks.com and adding them to Social book marking sites.
The way that I have been doing this is using a website called Socialposter.com.

Socialposter.com basically helps you to post your bookmarks to over 60 Book marking sites.
Sites range from Digg Like sites to Del.icio.us type sites. Everything has to be done manually
so it will take a while but once you go through every site you can 60 extra back-links to your page.

Now the best part about Socialbook marking is really starting to take off for me. My shop was
getting on average 500 - 700 visits per day. Now I am getting a lot more visits from SU, Del.icio.us, and
other bookmarking sites. Not to mention the extra Google traffic that this is bringing to me.

Between adding sites VIA popular Directories and Bidding directories like Astawerks.net you will
be able to increase your traffic to Web 2.0 way!.

So again Socialposter.com and Stumbleupon.com and you can’t go wrong!

I did not win an IPOD Nano

I logged into Digg this morning at my office computer with the speakers up full blast and there it goes. ‘ Congratulations you have just won an IPOD Nano’ . Now As you can see I am all about ads, I make money online and I support others making money online but talking Ads are the worst!. This it not Myspace.com where people are actually going to click the ad thinking that they won!. My Suggestion Digg is take it off. This is worst then then Dating animated Ad that you had on a few months back
